The "I-Ging" is an oracle invented in China in order to talk with gods and spirits.
Nowadays it is used to predict the future for certain situations. When translating
the word I-Ging it means the "book of changes". While time passes nothing remains
the same. Everything changes its shape.
You can apply the I-Ging most easily by throwing 3 coins simutaneously.
According to the upsides of the 3 coins you will eather get an open line
(Yin) or a whole line (Yang). By doing the same procedure 6 times in a
row you will obtain 6 lines starting from the bottom to the top.
This figure is called a hexagram consisting of the upper and lower trigram.
There are 8 possible combinations of hexagrams.
About 800 years BC Homer describes how Hermes streched dried sinews across
turtle shell and held it up to the wind. He was, so-to-speak, the first to use
an object to create resonance.
Instead of throwing 3 coins there is a more traditional way using a bunch of
50 yarrow-stalks. By separating this bunch with your hands a couple of times
you will get an open or closed line as well. Doing the same process 6 times
you will obtain a hexagram. This method is much more time consuming but leads
to more precise results.
The CD carries a special sound-track to each of the 8 trigrams. Using only the sound
of wind harps, hand played harp and some natural sound effects give you a colorful
image to each of the trigrams.
